Brett Parbery in Europe

ANKY Australia sponsored rider Brett Parbery and his companion Victory Salute have made it safely to Europe, Below are a few word’s from Brett;

After a long winded journey of 52 hrs, we arrived at our final destination at the stables of Edward Gal and Nicole Werner in Harskamp, Holland. It is a wonderful facility owned by the Resim Investment Group and also is home to Hans Peter Minderhoud with his amazing team of horses.

On the first day I rode Sam in the indoor as it is absolutely freezing here. I thought prior to the ride that maybe I might be so lucky to watch Edward training Totilas at some stage during the day, but I am also very mindful of the privacy that these top guys need when they are training their top horses.

Anyway, as I am walking around Edward rides in on a black horse and sure enough, its the superstar himself. The next 45 mins were just amazing as I watched, and tried to stay out of the way of, Totilas and Edward going through their daily training routine. It was just beautiful to watch. This is truly a special combination that we may never see again in our lifetime. Everything that I saw could have been a 10. It was mindblowing and something that I will be looking forward to watching on a daily basis as we all prepare for Kentucky in September. But before then we have the World Cup Final to attend to and I have full intentions on giving Totilas a run for his money….wishful thinking I know but think of Stephen Bradbury and Ive got half a chance.

Until next time…. Brett and Sam

New Record for Brett & Victory Salute

Brett Parbery has beaten his own record to take out the NSW Grand Prix and Grand Prix Freestyle Titles!

Brett tells his story…...

Last week we travelled up to Tamworth for the NSW State Championships, hosted by the hard working Tamworth Dresssage Club at the wonderful AELEC facility.

The event itself was a great success and the new AELEC facility has definitely succeeded in becoming Australia’s greatest venue.

Sam (Victory Salute) and I had a very relaxing weekend having just two tests over two days.  The first test was the Grand Prix on Friday afternoon.  The test for us was a good one and all but for a small mistake in the one tempi’s, was pretty well unblemished.  When the dust had settled after the competition, we came out on top with 67.75%, in front of Heath Ryan with Regardez Moi in second with Rachel Sanna and Jaybee Alabaster close behind.

The Freestyle night was as usual very exciting with the top four horses scoring in excess of 70%.  As I rode around the arena, Heath was receiving a very strong applause from an appreciative crowd, as he had delivered another great performance.  Then, Rachels score was announced at 73.3%.  I knew I had a lot to do so with that in mind, in we went….....

Sam worked the best he has worked in a long time and apart from one confusing aid from his rider, produced a beautiful mistake free test.  I was annoyed as usual with my stupidity and anxiously awaited the score.  Then they announced it, 76.85% and a new Australian record for a Grand Prix Freestyle.  We were all very happy and as always, Sam had bailed me out again.

We agreed out back that Heath should lead the Quadrille, as he is the best at it.  So the top 6 riders gave a Quadrille in appreciation to Tamworth for having us.

So in summary, the NSW State Championships were great for us in our lead up to Team selections for WEG, and a roaring success for dressage in general.

Cheers

Brett
